Montréal Transportation Commission No. 649 is part of the Buses print series by Raymond Biesinger.

" - I spent much of the 1990s riding buses around Edmonton, and last week I found myself buried in those buses' history. Besides now knowing the difference between GM "Old Look" and "New Look" coaches and what Twins and Flyers are, I put my research on paper. So, here you have it: two prints showing my favourite ETS buses and another three showing a gorgeous Vancouver Fageol Twin Coach,  a very "modern" Winnipeg Flyer, and a Canadian Car coach from 1958 Montréal.

The BC Hydro & Power Authority bus (No. 3290) is an amazing example of what I think of as an evolutionary dead end of buses: it has two engines, lots of chrome, and more architectural details than most buildings. This one was running Cambie St. in Vancouver. ETS No. 478 shows a GM "New Look" (aka "Fishbowl") bus built in 1965 as it would've looked in 1977, and it's the kind of bus I would've spent riding with my Grandma in. Next is a GM "Old Look" (No. 410) that shuttled riders between the University Hospital and Downtown in the late 1950s. Then we have a Transcona-built Flyer D800 as shown as it was serving City of Winnipeg Transit Services in 1977 as bus number 419, and last up is a Montréal Transportation Commission Canadian Car (bus number 649) as it would've looked on sue Saint-Denis in 1958.

I'd like to give special thanks to David A. Wyatt's "All Time List of Canadian Transit Systems" for its timelines and photographs. It's well worth a visit, if you're into these things."
